Kemi B

The Jammin' Zone was born in 2018 from a passion for discovering the unique and curating an eclectic, inimitable mix of smooth jazz, funk, soul, R&B, and much more. Growing up in a home immersed in music, I was constantly surrounded by the sounds of my father, who was a saxophonist in a jazz band during the 50s and 60s. His rehearsals took place right in our living room, so music was always in the background of my life. As someone who was often more of a loner, I found comfort and solace in listening to music, which became my primary pastime.

As I grew older, I was exposed to a wide variety of genres, from Acid Jazz and Jazz Funk to Brit Funk, Disco, Soul, Gospel, and R&B. Slowly but surely, I discovered my niche—Smooth Jazz. While I listened to a lot of other styles, Smooth Jazz just felt like home. The smooth, soulful instrumental tunes had a way of transporting me to another place, evoking deep emotions. This love for the genre eventually led me to pick up the saxophone and learn to play, adding a personal connection to the music that had always been a part of me.

That said, my musical taste is far from limited to one genre. I also have a deep love for slow jams—those songs that give you goosebumps and make your hair stand on end. These are the tracks that speak directly to your heart, articulating emotions that you can’t always put into words yourself. And let's not forget about the power of a strong drum and bass presence. I’m the kind of driver who can be heard a mile away because the bass in my car is turned up so loud. For me, there’s never enough bass!

On The Jammin' Zone, you can expect an unpredictable and diverse selection of music, including all forms of jazz, soul, R&B, disco, rare grooves, and some unforgettable slow tunes. I have a knack for uncovering obscure, sometimes forgotten tracks, and I’m not afraid to push boundaries. Occasionally, I’ll showcase songs that stretch beyond the typical radio edit and run over seven minutes long. Who’s setting the rules, after all? With the right track, anything is possible, and I believe music should have the space to breathe and evolve.

There’s a saying that “my music taste is so hard to describe, it’s literally everything except the songs I don’t like.” Will I surprise you? Quite possibly. Will you be intrigued? Absolutely. The beauty of music lies in its diversity and its ability to constantly evolve and surprise.

I hope you’ll keep coming back each week for more. Tune in on Thursdays at 7 PM and Saturdays at 4 PM UK time for another round of musical exploration, as I bring you a selection of the best and most exciting sounds around.
